About the event
Music from the Screen
The Wesley Music Centre Lunchtime Concert series will premiere the RMC Band’s Music from the Screen. The group will perform a variety of different songs from the movies and television. Each song has been chosen to feature a different member of the ensemble and spans the last 100 years of the screen, featuring a variety of music from Cinderella to Gladiator.
The Band of the Royal Military College is a 40-piece professional symphonic wind ensemble which provides ceremonial support for Vice-Regal and government activities, as well as the Australian Defence Force and the wider ACT community. The Band has been a regular fixture on the local music scene for well over 60 years, entertaining Canberrans and raising money for local charities through series such as Music at Midday at the Canberra Theatre, and its biannual concert spectaculars at Llewellyn Hall. The Officer Commanding and Music Director of the RMC Band is Major Matthew O’Keeffe.
The RMC Rhythm Group is made up of drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboard, percussion and two vocalists. Due to their versatility, they are some of the busiest musicians of the RMC Band. They are regularly booked for fundraising events, community festivals and military functions both large and small, supporting the proud men and women of the Australian Defence Force. The RMC Rhythm Group is led by Sergeant David Wood.
