About the event
The concert will showcase all of RMC Band’s woodwind ensembles, from the whole group, to quintets, quartets, trios, duos and solo acts performing a variety of contemporary instrumental and classical music.
The RMC Woodwind Group is an integral part of the success of the RMC Band and features some of Australia’s most versatile instrumentalists. In any one week its members may find themselves playing Glenn Miller at a jazz festival, Stravinsky in the concert hall, Colonel Bogey on parade, pop/rock music on stage and national anthems for dignitaries at Government House. Today’s artists have an eclectic musical background. Outside of their work in the army, these musicians have performed with Australia’s top symphony orchestras (including Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra) and have supported artists from Lang Lang and Mark Walton to James Morrison. The RMC Woodwind Group is led by Sergeant Richard Hibble.
