Wednesday Lunchtime Concert: Amore, Arie e Amici

On Wednesday 14^th October 2026 the Wesley Lunchtime Concert series is excited to welcome back Ariana Odermatt (harpsichord) with her New Zealand colleague and friend Teresa Block (mezzo-soprano) in a program of beautiful Italian arie antiche and baroque arias from composers such as Handel, Marcello, Vivaldi and more. 

Born and raised in New Zealand, Teresa Block (nee Wojcik) earnt her Bachelor of Music, majoring in Classical Singing, Composition and Songwriting at the University of Otago, Dunedin. In 2014, she left for Europe and spent several years touring Germany and surrounding countries with the OpernRetter (Opera Savers) company as actor and singer. This work focussed on bringing classical music to primary school children in a fun and accessible way. She also worked with several choirs, including the Anglistenchor Heidelberg and Filsbach Ensemble, as Alto soloist. Recently in Canberra, Teresa appeared as Hansel in National Opera’s Hansel and Gretel (2025) and understudied Octavian in NO’s Der Rosenkavalier (2025). Her first Canberra concert as Alto Soloist was in Vaughan Williams Mass in G…
