Penta Harp Ensemble is a new Australian harp quintet formed to showcase the full range of sound that the modern concert harp has to offer. Led by Alice Giles AM, Penta brings together the talent of Rowan Phemister, William Nichols, Kate Moloney and Melina van Leeuwen. United in their fierce advocacy for virtuosic and inspiring harp repertoire, these players share a special harpistic affinity. Each member performs nationally with Australia’s foremost orchestras and chamber ensembles.
This debut concert premieres a new work by emerging composer Katia Mestrovic, as well as featuring works by Australian composers Mary Doumany, Elena Kats-Chernin, Ross Edwards, and popular favourites by Debussy, Ravel, Richter, Lecuona and Salzedo.
