About the event
On Wednesday 24th April from 12:40 to 1:20pm, the Wesley Music Centre Wednesday Lunchtime series is pleased to present a delightful concert by the Aeolus Wind Trio all about love. A romance novelist has devised this program of diverse works describing the four stages of love: first attraction, happy in love, lost love and enduring love, with music by McCartney, Tchaikovsky, Gershwin, Gade, Borodin, Loewe, Waller, Rota - and even Bach and Wagner.
Aeolus Wind Trio was formed in 1983 and, over 40 years, has been one of Canberra’s busiest chamber music ensembles, performing widely at weddings, parties, conventions, balls, graduations, fashion parades, dinners and festivals – as well as recitals, concerts and live radio broadcasts. They performed their 35th anniversary concert at Wesley, as well as last year’s Hits of 1875 at Lunchtime.
Jodie Petrov (flute) has taught, directed ensembles and performed in Sydney and Canberra. She has appeared as a soloist with the National Capital Orchestra and Musica da Camera, and Aeolus, since 2014.
Lis Hoorweg (clarinet) has taught and performed in Canberra since the 1970s. A member of Aeolus since 1986, she has played with the National Capital Orchestra, appearing with them in a double clarinet concerto.
David Whitbread (bassoon) is a founding member of Aeolus and also the Australian Wind Symphony. In 2014 at Wesley, he performed his sold-out first solo bassoon recital, Things you shouldn’t do on a bassoon.
